There are many definitions of well-being as the meaning is different to each person.
According to the work by New Economics Foundation there are 5 components of well-being these are: choice, environment (and security), relationship, emotions and personal development. In essence Wellbeing is about 'Looking after me'.

These five actions to maintain and improve wellbeing are taken from the Foresight project Mental Capital and Wellbeing published in October 2008. The project commissioned the centre for well-being at nef (the new economics foundation) to develop a set of evidence-based actions to improve personal wellbeing.
